I think people who get tattooed with 666 or try to associate themselves with the number show their ignorance of what it means when they do that. The number was given in Revelation 13 so that people would be able to recognize the anti-Christ by his name. It says the numeric value of his name will equal 666. You would obtain the numeric value of his name by adding up the numeric value of the letters of his name. We still use Roman numerals today. The letters of the Greek and Hebrew alphabet have numeric values too.
But these people seem to be ignorant of the fact that they are supposed to be using that number to calculate the name of the beast and not just parading the number around.
This is a messed up individual. However, I suspect he is dangerous mostly to himself, unless he manages to collect a small group of nuts around him like Manson did. The Antichrist, on the other hand, will be far more persuasive and appealing; even among lesser antichrists, he lacks teh appeal of, say, an Adolf Hitler.
The best fictional account of him I've seen is Vladimir Soloviev's A Brief Tale of Antichrist. It used to be available on the internet, but I can't find a copy now.
By the way, some of the early writers on Antichrist wrote about him as Ante-Christ -- that is, before Christ, insofar as he precedes Christ's Second Coming.
Pastor Swope,

This is even more scary than the report of a loan company in Europe that accepts souls as collateral.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a guy born in South America but taken to Europe. Has a very distinct and very very well hidden pws birthmark with very distinct numbers.
